equality for brand and logos alike
Starbucks & Coach:

Here is a quick visual to show the contrast between the logo and branding for Starbucks & Coach. These two concepts can quickly get convoluted at times and are both equally important. Both these companies have established their “brand” beyond their corporate image. They have done this, not through their logo, but rather through attaching their brand experience TO their logo. They have done this through everything from the feeling of their stores, to the way their employes act, to the paper they print their promotional materials on. For a quick wrap up, I have listed a few summary bullets on the topic:
- A good logo, without an appropriate branding environment, is useless.
- The various formats of branding (experience w/ product, promotional material, advertising, tone of voice, web presence, etc) create a playing field for the logo to be applied.
- When the branding and “essence” of a brand are weak, the logo (good or bad) suffers also.
- The branding of a company/service/idea/product gives the value, reputation, and style/feel that is attached and associated with the logo. When the branding is absent (or weak), the consumer has nothing to be associate with the logo.
