joel is on vacation

This week is all about taking care of yourself as designers. Making sure you are inspired, motivated, and practicing moderation in your careers. I talked about a Bible verse and I put the actual quote below.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?    -Matthew 6:25-27

When I was scuba diving with all the fish this morning I was reminded of this verse. Of course there are religious applications from this verse, but the value in not worrying is valid to all, religious or not. Life will move on and clients & projects will still be there when you get back from a vacation. We as designers need to take care of our selves and protect our creative energy. Take vacations, don’t live to work, and stay level. Obviously I’m not saying to not be persistent, because hard work pays off in every sense, but at some time you have to stop.

This vacation is more than I could have asked for & I encourage everyone to make it a priority…just as you would a deadline. Mahalo Bitches! ;)
